George Goundie Memorial Scholarship Exhibition and Silent Auction opens July 9th!

From July 9th through July 23, the UWM Union Art Gallery will host the Biennial Goundie Memorial Scholarship Exhibition and Silent Auction.  All art work in the exhibition will be available for purchase through silent auction-style bidding.  The opening reception will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, July 9th. The closing of the auction will be at 8:00pm on Friday, July 23rd.

This exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Professor Emeritus George Goundie and is a silent auction to raise money for student scholarships in the Peck School of Arts Sculpture Department.  In George Goundie’s 26 years of distinguished service at UWM, he served as Chairman of the Art Department, Chairman of the Knapp Bequest Committee, a member of the Faculty Senate and the former UW System Faculty Assembly.  He also served on a wide variety of arts councils and exhibited extensively in major regional and nation exhibitions.

This exhibition will include a variety of artworks in various mediums with all pieces being available for purchase through a silent auction held concurrent with the show dates.  Artist contributors include some of PSOA’s finest faculty—past and present—and art students.  All proceeds will benefit the George Goundie Memorial Scholarship Fund.  These scholarships are awarded to UWM students pursuing sculpture in the Department of Visual Art.

Gallery Hours are Monday through Wednesday 12-5pm, Thursday 12-7pm and Friday through Saturday 12-5pm.  The gallery is located on the Campus Level of the Union in room W199.
