OPS – UWM Painting in the Atrium

OPS (Orginization of Painting Students) has some spectacular work up in the UWM Union Atrium.  Humorous, serious, vibrant, and dynamic images inhabit the space for a couple more weeks. Remember to visit this group show of great painters!

 

 

 

37th Annual Juried Art Show Opens tonight! 5-8pm

This year’s 37th Annual Juried Art Show at the UWM Union Art Gallery has some fantastic artwork from students as far as Whitewater!  We hope to see you at the opening tonight, but in case you can’t here are details on the show:

artists present work in a variety

be juried by local art
professionals who will award
prizes to exhibiting artists. This
exciting annual event showcases
the best work of local emerging
student artists

Some information on the jurors:

Della Wells is a nationally recognized artist whose work is shown in Europe and throughout the United States. She is the president and founder of the artists’ advocacy group ABEA (African American Artists Beginning to Educate Americans about African American Art).

Fold artist Jose Chavez’s work has been exhibited at the Mexican Fine Arts Museum in Chicago, Milwaukee Art Museum, and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. He is on the Board of Directors at Redline Milwaukee and serves on the Education and Public Programs Committee at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Steve Vande Zande received an MS in the area of leadership with emphasis in the arts from Banks Street College of Education in conjunction with the Parsons New School for Design. he is the President of Redline Milwaukee and an education programmer for the Milwaukee Art Museum.
